The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, one of the leading rugby unions in New Zealand and home of the Steamers, is seeking an exceptional Commercial Manager to work with key stakeholder relationships, sponsorship, funding, sales and marketing.
This position plays an integral role in leading and managing direction and work outputs within the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union (BOPRU) and contributing to the promotion and development of rugby.
This role involves:
• Leadership and development of the Sales and Marketing team's
• Operational Planning and Budgeting
• Business Development
• Leading, inspiring, diversifying and growing sales of sponsorship packages, hospitality, season, group and individual tickets, whilst managing high level accounts.
To be successful in this role you will:
• Have a Tertiary Qualification in Marketing
• 5 years or more experience in senior sales and marketing team management roles
• Strong awareness of brand management and the communication of brand values
• An in-depth understanding of the game of rugby
• Ability to assist in creating and implementing a clear sales growth strategy
• A strong network of contacts in both the business and media world
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective long term relationships
• Strategic and business planning knowledge and skills
• Flexibility and adaptability - prepared to do anything with a positive 'can do' attitude
• Honesty and ability to handle confidential information
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent command of the English language and a high level of oral and written communication skills for reports and presentations
• Logical, structured and systematic in planning and completing workload
• Be skilled in time and operational management of day to day tasks
• You will be self motivated, have the ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment working for a collective goal.
