Auckland Rugby Union High Performance Strength & Conditioning Coach

The ARU is currently seeking a High Performance Strength & Conditioning Coach.

The appointee will be suitably qualified as a Strength & Conditioning Coach with professional rugby experience in an elite sporting environment.

The appointee will be responsible for creating and overseeing individual and team S&C programmes, rehab/prehab patterns and recovery strategies to ensure players are in the best possible condition to perform at their highest level for the Auckland Rugby Union.

Skills and experience required are:

  • Minimum 3 years working in professional sport (preferably Rugby Union)
  • Recognised degree in Physical Education, Human Movement or Sports Science
  • Knowledge and practical experience relating but not limited to:
  • - Planning and periodisation development
  • - Strength, Speed, Endurance, Injury Pre/Rehab, Recovery
  • - Assessment, monitoring and reporting systems (e.g. GPS, HR)
  • High level of IT skills and use of various Microsoft software packages such as Excel
  • The ability to work within a team and coordinate both full-time and part-time Strength and Conditioning colleagues.
  • Strong work ethic, pro-active, honest, reliable, diligent, innovative and driven

Beyond discipline-specific expertise and experience, candidates should have a good knowledge and understanding of the game as well as outstanding organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. 

The successful candidate for this position must also have the ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally.  Therefore, applicants must maintain a current passport and be eligible to travel overseas and back to New Zealand (including maintaining eligibility to obtain any necessary visas).

The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union are searching for an energetic and proactive Media & Events Coordinator to join our team. The Media & Events Coordinator is responsible for connecting the Union with our community and sharing all the great stories of rugby in Bay of Plenty. This will include managing our website, social media, media releases, promotions and events.

Otago ITM Cup Head Coach & Director of Coaching

Otago has a proud history of playing exciting attacking rugby.  This style of play has been developed over a number of years and is now part of the game at all levels across the region.  If you are a coach passionate about rugby and the ‘Otago style’ then the Otago Rugby Football Union (ORFU) invites your application for the position of Otago Head Coach & Director of Coaching. 

This position is responsible for coaching the Otago team in the ITM Cup Championship and also for leading the development and implementation of the Otago Rugby Football Union’s overall coaching strategy.  This role will directly contribute to the overall promotion and development of the game of rugby throughout the province.

The successful candidate will have either proven first-class or significant Otago club or representative coaching experience.

On and off-field skills required at the highest level include:

  • Leadership;
  • Strategic thinking and planning;
  • Tactical and technical coaching (for the team and individual);
  • People management;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • High Performance player and coach development.

This role requires a high level of passion, initiative and commitment and is a rare opportunity to enhance the development and success of rugby in Otago.
