Secondary schools from the Hurricanes region and beyond are invited to register for the Hurricanes Under 14 Boys Rugby Festival. Held at Wakefield Park Artificial Turf in Wellington City over three days, the tournament provides under 14 boys the opportunity to travel and play different schools from their regular competition.
Hosted on behalf of the Hurricanes Youth Rugby Council by College Sport Wellington and Wellington Rugby Football Union, the aim of the festival is not high performance, but to try to engage students under 14 with rugby. It is hoping that students within your school that haven't had a chance to play diring the year, get an opportunity to play wth their peers.
There will be no finals. Think of it as a school camo that happens to have some rugby games attached to it.

Event type: Carnival
Date: 29-31 August
Location: Waimea Old Boys Rugby and Waimea College, Nelson, 60 Salisbury Road, Richmond 7020
The Rural Livestock Rugby tournament began in 1986 with the emphasis on participation and development of players. A final is normally played, but this is not mandatory. The main award goes to the Best All Round team and this is the result of points allocated for winning, fairplay (by referees) and attitude (opposing coaches). Players must be Under 15 as at the start of that year.
All games are usually 40 min (2 x 20min halves). Depending on entries all teams play five games with the finalists normally playing six. Tournaments are open entry. Schools that wish to combine should consult with Geoff Simons first. (geoff@simons.co.nz) As over 20 teams compete most years, the tournament begins in two divisions.
The minimum number of players required is probably 19. There is no maximum number, but it is expected that all players will be playing 30% of the total time their team plays. The tournament is played under Domestic Law Safety Variations (DLSV) unless otherwise stated. Players can only be substituted on and off at halftime and midway through both halves. A player substituted off and can be substituted back on at those set times. Players injured can be replaced at any time. But still only 22 players can be involved in any one game.
