Charles Monro Volunteer of the Year Nomination Form

Rugby volunteers are the backbone of Community Rugby in New Zealand, and we know we are lucky to have so many extraordinary people involved in our game. 

This award is named after Charles Monro (1851-1933) who introduced rugby to New Zealand in 1870.

Criteria 

Nominees for this award will have demonstrated some or all of the following: 

  • Provided extraordinary volunteer service which has assisted their Union, club or school in achieving significant outcome/s in the current year 
  • Are an active and important participant of their local Provincial Union – noting what roles/responsibilities they have within their local club or union 
  • Are a role model for other members or volunteers 

NB: This is a difficult category to award, and it is recognised that the judging panel can only judge based on the information they receive in the nomination. 

Process 

  • Nominations are open until 28 September. 
  • The top six nominations as judged by NZR to be presented to the judging panel for their consideration. 
  • The judging panel determines the top three nominees and winner.  
  • The top three nominees will be announced in mid-November.
  • The winner is announced during the New Zealand Rugby Awards 2025 in December.
