The New Zealand Rugby (NZR) Board has today confirmed changes to the board and management structure of the organisation.
Presently, New Zealand Rugby Commercial (NZRC) manages the commercial aspects of NZR under the leadership of its own Board, Chief Executive Officer and Executive team.
The change will see a move to a single NZR organisation led by a Chief Executive Officer and a consolidated Executive team.
A Chief Commercial Officer role will be established. This role will work closely with the NZR CEO, and the NZRC Board on the commercial growth strategy.
The NZRC Board will be reorganised. The Chair of NZR, David Kirk, will chair the NZRC board, which will consist of three NZR directors, two Silver Lake directors, one NZRPA director and one independent director. Richie McCaw will remain as the NZRPA representative, and Ian Narev will remain as the independent director.
NZR Chair David Kirk said: “Firstly, I wish to thank Gina Brogi and Rob Fyfe for their service as independent directors of NZRC. They have both made excellent contributions to the board and I look forward to them staying in touch with New Zealand Rugby.
“These changes are designed to simplify the governance and leadership structure of NZR and ensure alignment between commercial activities, winning Teams in Black and our work in partnership with Provincial Unions and the Māori Rugby Board to drive participation and engagement in the community game.
“We very much appreciate the continued support and engagement of the Silver Lake directors on the NZRC board. They bring highly valuable experience, networks and capability and will continue to play an important role in the organisation as we continue to drive growth through global brand awareness, fan engagement and our special legacy and winning record.”
NZR will commence recruitment for the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Commercial Officer and vacant Chief Financial Officer roles immediately.
