Registrations Open for the U85kg National Club Cup

Registrations are now open for the U85kg National Club Cup, bringing together clubs from across New Zealand to compete on the national stage.

The National Club Cup brings together the best U85kg teams from around New Zealand in a tournament that celebrates fast, physical, and skilful rugby. Built on strong club culture and competitive spirit, the Cup showcases the very best of the U85kg game and provides a national platform for players and clubs alike.

The U85kg National Club Cup is already building a strong history, with former winners including Pakuranga Panthers, High School Old Boys (HSOB) Light Bears, Southern Bush Pigs, and Eden Lizards. Last year’s final was a standout, with the Light Bears edging out the Pōneke FC Wanderers 24–19 to claim their second title in a thrilling contest played as a curtain raiser to the Bledisloe Cup. The tight finish showcased the intensity of the competition and the exposure the tournament now delivers at a national level.

The tournament offers clubs the chance to test themselves against top opposition, represent their province, and be part of a growing national competition. Whether you are an established contender or a club looking to measure yourselves at the highest level, the National Club Cup remains the pinnacle of the U85kg season.

The competition draw will be published in mid-May, confirming match ups and key details ahead of the tournament. The U85kg National Club Cup will kick off no later than 1 August, culminating in the final on 6 September.

The final will be played as a double header alongside the North Harbour v Northland (Battle of the North) NPC fixture at North Harbour Stadium, giving teams the opportunity to be part of a showcase event on the rugby calendar.
