A Level 2 course available for registered physiotherapists under PBNZ and registered Medical Practitioners under MCNZ.
Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) is a 2-day course that introduces healthcare professionals to the skills and equipment required provide immediate care to players who may suffer a life or limb threatening injury or medical condition on the field. The course will be a mix of theory and practical learning, delivered by an experienced faculty, made up of some of our most experienced physios, emergency medicine and sports medicine specialists.
Candidates will be assessed by both a MCQ and practical exam to ensure their competence to deliver appropriate pitch-side medical care after completion of the course.
This course is available to registered physiotherapists under PBNZ and registered Medical Practitioners under MCNZ. Due to the MCNZ scope of practice for junior doctors, this course is not available to those at Trainee Intern, PGY1 and PGY2 level.
For those involved with a team at Heartland level and above or Match Day Staff the cost of the course is covered by NZR.
For those not connected to a team at this level, there will be a fee of $1000 incl gst. Please let us know if your place of work will be invoiced for this course and provide a contact e-mail address for the accounts team.
